Joomoo tree - by Rowena Mouda

We are so excited to introduce Oomeday, Yowjabi, Nyikina, Bardi artist Rowena Mouda, who brings us the first print of our new Ardyaloon collection! This beautiful design - Joomoo tree - is printed on a linen/tencel blend, and is currently available in the button down shift, new robe, and women's shirt.

Joomoo tree tells the story of the bauhinia tree, which has many significances and uses for Kimberley people!

"The wood is good to burn and cook food on; we suck the honey from the flower pods; the bees love it. There's also a soft sweet gum that grows on the tree - the Joomoo tree is a food resource for us!

It's always got beautiful leaves on it - so it's a nice shady tree. There are many natural colours on the Joomoo tree - a black, rough trunk, then the long brown seed pods, the green of the leaves (not a high pitched green, but not too dull), then the red flowers!

The Joomoo tree is not just a tree - it has many uses. It's just like people - there's many parts of us that do differnet things - the tree is like that too!"

Read the full story of the artist + her design here, and check out videos below!

Thankyou Rowena for sharing this unique part of the world with us, through your Joomoo tree design!   We hope you all love it as much as we do.
