“I done ringin’ when I was small – 9 years old – in QLD. I lived in QLD for a long time, then we went to Borroloola and got a block and started a little farm. We got a couple hundred head now – 200 head of bullock. We’ve had it for 38 years. Still going.
Ringin’ was before the road trains came along. Today you can truck it, but before you couldn’t truck it. You had to walk him. 700 to 800 miles.
I went ringing when I was 9 years old – over to Townsville sale yards. We don’t do droving anymore We just sell it to meatworks – that’s all.
I can’t handle it [cattlework] anymore – my kids handle it now. I trained all my kids to work on the farm. And I really love horse and cattle- that’s why I’m doing all these designs, ‘cause I love cattle and horse.”
