The Story on the Label
From our Adyaloon collection onwards, you’ll notice something new woven into each Magpie Goose garment - the title of the artwork and the artist’s name printed on the care label, often found in the side seam.
It’s a simple but powerful addition. This small detail ensures that the story and the storyteller are carried with you every time you wear Magpie Goose. It’s a quiet acknowledgment of where the design comes from, whose culture it represents, and the ongoing connection between artist, art and Country.
Respecting ICIP and Artist Rights
At the heart of Magpie Goose is respect for Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). Each artwork we use is licensed directly from the artist or art centre, and artists are fairly paid for their work. While we hold a licence to reproduce the design on fabric, the copyright and ICIP always remain with the artist.
This process protects artists’ cultural knowledge and creative expression, ensuring that designs are shared with consent, respect, and integrity.
Collaboration
Our collections are born from deep collaboration. Artists share stories of their Country, its waterholes, plants, animals, and histories, through original artworks that we help bring to life on fabric. These designs become limited-edition garments made in Australia using natural fibres and ethical production practices.
