Retail Assistant

Job Type: Part-time, 20+ hours per week

Location: Magpie Goose store, Shop 10 - 30 King St, Bowen Hills - Brisbane

We’re looking for a Retail Assistant to join the Magpie Goose team.

This role is central to our retail experience and suits someone who enjoys working autonomously, connecting with customers, and being part of a purpose-led fashion business. As a small team, we work collaboratively across in-store retail, online fulfilment and customer service, while sharing the stories behind our garments and the artists who create them.

About Magpie Goose

Proudly Aboriginal owned and led, Magpie Goose combines fashion and social impact to create wearable garments that tell stories of Country, culture and community. We partner with Aboriginal artists and Art Centres to develop textile designs, hand screenprint artwork onto natural fibres, and manufacture quality everyday garments in Australia.


About the Role and Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a reliable, confident and organised Retail Assistant who is comfortable working independently in-store while supporting broader retail operations.

Experience in retail is ideal, and knowledge of Aboriginal art and culture is advantageous.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering warm, knowledgeable customer service in-store

  • Working autonomously during retail shifts

  • Packing and posting online orders

  • Handling cash and POS transactions

  • Managing stock control and maintaining accurate stock levels

  • Supporting visual merchandising and store presentation

  • Assisting with general store operations

  • Undertaking some supervisory tasks as required
