We're in the running for a NIFA Award

We’re incredibly proud to share that Magpie Goose and the amazing Quandamooka Artists, have been named a finalist in the 2026 National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA) for the Community Collaboration Award, supported by QIC.

This award celebrates strong, respectful and reciprocal relationships between First Nations communities and the textile and fashion industry - something that sits right at the heart of everything we do.

To be recognised alongside such deadly finalists is truly special:

  • Bábbarra Women's Centre x Tharangini Studio
  • Bula'bula Arts x Black Cat Couture NT
  • Magpie Goose x Quandamooka Artists
  • Koorie Heritage Trust x RMIT (Blak Design Program)

Now… this also marks our third year in a row as finalists at NIFA. Still no win yet — always the bridesmaid, never the bride 😂 — but honestly, we’re just grateful to be invited to the party alongside some of the most talented Blak creatives, artists and changemakers in the industry. - especially those above.

This nomination feels especially close to home because our collaboration with Quandamooka artists is deeply personal. These are artists we admire, respect and love working with — artists whose stories, culture and creativity continue to shape the future of contemporary Indigenous fashion.

We are so proud to collaborate with:

  • Sonja Carmichael
  • Elisa Jane Carmichael
  • Kieron Anderson
  • Dean Tyson
  • Mahala Burns
  • Belinda Close
  • Casey Coolwell-Fisher
  • Kyra Mancktelow

.. with upcoming designs from Libby Harward and Leeanne Enoch still to come!

At Magpie Goose, collaboration has never been about transactions - it’s about relationships, community, storytelling and creating opportunities together. To have that recognised on a national stage means the world to us.

Win or lose, we’re proud of the work, proud of the partnerships, and proud to stand beside community every step of the way.

See you at NIFAs 💛🖤❤️
