Kwatye (Rain) by Carol Young

This design is about Kwatye dreaming; the rainstorm. In Mparntwe (Alice Springs), the weather gets very hot (in summer), and very cold (in winter), and it doesn't rain very often. The Todd River floods when it rains, only once in a blue moon, and it's lovely because there is a lot of dry heat then it cools down. In Arrernte language, alharrkentye means lightning, angkulye means clouds and kwatye means water or rain. This is the second time my artwork has been chosen; Angkulye (Clouds) and Kwatye (Rain) design was on garment for the Country to Couture runway in 2019. It must look good on clothing!
